The Hospital Regional de Alta Especialidad del Bajío (HRAEB) is a decentralized third level public institution, dependent of the Secretaría de Salud, that gives specialized medical attention to people of the Bajío region, comprehended by states of Guanajuato, where the hospital is, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Michoacán and Zacatecas.
The HRAEB is a referral hospital that conducts their actions to people guaranteed by Seguro Popular program, persons insured by social security, insurance private institutions and others.
The Hospital de Alta Especialidad del Bajío was defined as a set of high speciality medical services for children in the neonatal and pediatric age, as well as adults; provided by several medical specialties localized in a building complex and interrelated with the regional network of state hospitals; with resolutive capacity for care of rare but high complexity medical problems, affecting people in a severe manner; that has modular infrastructure and advanced technological resources that permit the correct diagnosis and effective therapy, and a quality grade that allows the developing of human resources for health, medical research and technological development.
The HRAEB was conceived as a new model of facility for health according to MIDAS program (Integrated model for attention of health), through the integration of services with high medical technology assigned to children and adult populations.
